Novel Reflection #1: The Penderwicks
Choice 2: Create a Blog Post about Your Novel
» I have finished reading a book called "The Penderwicks". It was a very interesting book to read. It was written by Jeanne Birdsall. The story was about four sisters and their names are Skye, Jane, Rosalind and Batty. They suddenly found themselves staying on a beautiful estate called Aundrel. They met a boy named Jeffrey and all five of them suddenly became best friends. But Mrs.Tiffon, Jeffrey's mother, doesn't really like The Penderwicks' sisters because they were all naughty and they always messing around near her house. So Mrs. Tiffon said to Jeffrey that he can't play with those sisters anymore, which made Jeffrey being confused. One day, when Mrs.Tiffon was out of the house, Jeffrey ran away from home to visit The Penderwicks' sisters. When Jane, one of the four Penderwicks'sisters, was very surprised because Jeffrey ran away from home to visit them. Unfortunately, Mrs.Tiffon came by and she saw Jeffrey was playing around with The Penderwicks. She shouted at the four Penderwicks to stay away from her son or else, they will never see Jeffrey again. Jeffrey was very angry about his mother at that period so he explained out loud to his mother why did he run away from home but it seemed to be useless. So, there wasn't a happy ending. The Penderwicks'sisters left and moved as far as they could so that they won't annoy Mrs.Tiffon again. However, the friendship between them and Jeffrey will never be fade.

» Onishi-san showed the students the movie about how bad the Americans and what is good to fight against them.
3. How did the movie depict Americans?

4. Why do you think he showed the students the film?
» I think that Onishi-san wants the students to understand how did the Americans treat us and stereotyping us about our appearances. He wants those students to stand together to fight against them to show them that how powerful the Japaneses are.
