The rose that grew from concrete - Answers

1. What is concrete? Explain, using imagery, what it looks, feels, smells, tastes and sounds like.
- A concrete is something that people use to put on houses to make it solid. But it is very disgusting and people walk on it and spit on it. It shows no beauty on it.
2. What is a rose? Using imagery to explain it.
- A rose is a kind of flower that use to represent love and beauty. It has a wonderful smell and people usually use it to decorate their houses or put them in vases.
3. What is the tone of this poem?
- It sounds kind of making people think that even though we are not as beautiful as others, but we will still try to be equal to them.
4. What is the message of the poem?
- The message of the poem is even though they view ourselves as something that really disgusting like a concrete, but we will still try to be better and making our beauty gains up. Nothing can stop us from believing in ourselves like the rose in the poem.
5. What figurative language does the poet use?
- Tupac uses the figurative language called "metaphor" and "imagination" because he viewed the rose as someone who is very beautiful and the concrete as someone who is very ugly. He uses both of these objects to represent the saying that even though we are ugly but we will still have a chance to keep moving forward.
